The Trainee Program is designed for professionals seeking to participate in on-the-job, structured training experiences in the United States. These programs provide valuable opportunities for professional development in a specific occupational field while allowing participants to immerse themselves in American culture and share their own cultural traditions with the American people.

Training programs focus on expanding participants’ existing skills and knowledge through practical, supervised work experience. They are ideal for professionals looking to enhance their expertise, learn new practices within their industry, and build international networks. To be eligible for the Trainee Exchange Visitor Program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• Hold a college or university degree and have at least one year of work experience in their occupational field, or

• Have a minimum of five years of work experience in the occupational field in which they are seeking training.

As with internships, trainees must obtain a J-1 visa to legally participate in a training program in the United States. The J-1 visa program is a cultural exchange initiative overseen by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) within the U.S. Department of State. Program durations typically range from three weeks to 18 months, depending on the field of training.

C & G Exchange can assist eligible professionals in identifying suitable training opportunities, securing job offers, and navigating the entire application and visa process.
